How do I import or sync a sitemap between the extension and Cloud?

Use a quick import when you only need to move a sitemap into Web Scraper Cloud. Use sitemap sync when you want to keep working with the same sitemap in both the browser extension and Cloud.

Quick import from the browser extension

  1. Open Sitemap Import in Web Scraper Cloud.
  2. Find the sitemap under Import Extension Sitemaps.
  3. Select the available import action.
  4. Open the imported sitemap in Cloud and confirm that the correct sitemap was transferred.

Sitemap sync does not need to be enabled for this quick import method.

Use sitemap sync for ongoing changes

Use sync when the same sitemap may be edited in both places and you want to track which copy is newer.

  1. Open Web Scraper in browser Developer Tools.
  2. Select Sign in to Cloud in the top-right corner.
  3. Complete authentication and select Connect cloud with extension.
  4. Refresh the sitemap list in the extension.

Understand the sync status

The sitemap list can indicate that:

  • The latest version is in Cloud.
  • The latest version is in the extension.
  • Both copies are synchronized.
  • The sitemap exists only in Cloud and can be downloaded into the extension.
  • The sitemap exists only in the extension and can be uploaded to Cloud.
  • The latest version cannot be determined when both copies exist but their editing history does not identify which is newer.

Import from JSON

If the sitemap is not available in the current browser extension, you can also import an exported sitemap JSON from the Cloud sitemap import page.

See the Import a sitemap into Web Scraper Cloud documentation and Sitemap sync documentation for more information.
