How do I choose a proxy country or location?
Choose a proxy location based on the region whose version of the website you want to access.
Websites can return different prices, currencies, languages, availability, catalogs, consent screens, or even page layouts depending on the visitor's location.
Choose the location that matches your target data
- If you want US prices or content, use a US proxy location.
- If you want UK-specific content, use a UK location.
- If the website is restricted to a particular country or region, choose a proxy location that matches that region.
Datacenter proxy locations currently include the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany.
Residential proxies provide more country and location options. Available Residential locations can change, so use the locations currently shown in Web Scraper Cloud.
If the website is still blocked
If the location is correct but the website still returns Access denied, CAPTCHA, verification, or similar blocked pages, try a different proxy type or another appropriate location.
For example, if a Datacenter proxy is being restricted, try a Residential proxy from the required country.
Test after changing the location
Run a Test scrape after changing the proxy location. Confirm that:
- The expected regional version of the page is returned.
- Prices, currency, language, and availability are correct.
- Your selectors still match the returned page structure.
See the Proxy configuration documentation for more information.
